Villa Balthazar is located just outside Quinta dos Salicos, a small urbanization in the countryside between Lagoa and Praia do Carvoeiro.
Villa Balthazar with its main orientation towards the south was designed by the architects Raposo and Uldschmidt and built by João Baptista in 1998. Together with the owners they have achieved to create a splendid villa with Mozarabic features, reflecting the Moorish influence in the Algarve.
A large part of this area has been landscaped into a magnificent garden surrounding the villa and swimming pool. The design includes almond and fig trees as well as olive and carob trees, pine trees and to strengthen the architecture more than fifty cypresses have been added. The flowerbeds in terraces and the lawns are irrigated with water from a high capacity borehole.
Visiting the villa, you will encounter one specific architectural element, the square. It is recognised in ceilings, patio, glass kitchen door, front doors etc. Only a limited number of quality materials has been used: Tali hard wood from Brazil, pedra polished and hammered, Bisazza mosaics, Santa Catarina, red bricks. All this gives the house a modern design with traditional Portuguese elements.
The central part of the villa is the large reception and the inner patio of 11 x 8,5 m. with a mosaic fountain and a gallery with natural stone floor. This area is reached after entering the villa through the main double wooden door and the spacious entrance hall with brick ceiling.
This property has a unique charm and visiting the estate will be the best way to feel the beauty of its grounds.
